While we take great pride in every aspect of Rizzo Hall, we are particularly proud of the accomplishments of our chef and founder, Peter Rugiano.
Born in the Calabria region of Southern Italy, Peter Rugiano grew up in a restaurant. Since the age of six, he helped his mother cook and clean, and he developed a passion for fine cuisine.
Peter attended chef school in Torino, Italy, then immigrated to Toronto in 1962, where he quickly found work as a chef. He opened his first business, Buffet Rizzo, in Montreal in 1964, quickly establishing a reputation for quality and versatility; in Montreal, Peter began incorporating French dishes into his repertoire.
In 1977, Peter Rugiano opened Rizzo Hall in Toronto, fulfilling his dream of offering a full-service catering hall. Peter has experimented with new dishes over the last 35 years, and he travels the world to bring the latest international cuisine to Toronto.
When you plan an event at Rizzo Hall, you can rest assured that all food preparation takes place under Peter’s expert supervision. A dedicated chef, Peter trains all of our cook staff, and his friendly, courteous approach ensures a wonderful dining experience for all of our visitors.
